ANO NOVO | New Year's Eve

Quem por aí já está a fazer planos para a passagem de ano?
Eu sei que ainda faltam 4 meses, mas a passagem de ano é umas das alturas em que mais se viaja para ver os fogos-de-artifício pelo Mundo. Marcar tudo com a antecedência, neste caso, é a chave para o sucesso, pois se seguirmos a mania portuguesa do deixar tudo para a última vamos acabar sentados no sofá (ou em cima da cadeira) a contar as badaladas com a tia Teresa, ou a Julinha.
Assim sendo, vamos lá sugerir alguns locais para vos dar algumas ideias.

Who out there is already making plans for New Year's Eve?
I know that it takes more four months until the time, but the New Year's Eve is one of the times when people travels more to watch the fireworks throughout the world. Planning all as far from the date as we can, in this case, is the key to success, because if we follow the Portuguese habit of leaving everything to the last minute we end up sitting on the couch (or up on the chair) counting the chimes with aunty Teresa, or Julinha.

So, let's suggest some places to give you some ideas.

Madeira

Como o que é português é bom não podia começar com outro destino. Os fogos-de-artifício da Madeira há muito que são considerados os mais bonitos e fazem parte do livro de recordes do Guiness como o maior espetáculo de fogo-de-artifício do mundo. Because what is Portuguese is good, I couldn't start with any other destination. Madeira Fireworks have long been considered the most beautiful and are part of the Guinness World Records book as the world's largest fireworks show. Paris

Já é conhecida por muitos como a cidade do amor e é um destino que vale a pena visitar em qualquer altura do ano. O que muitos não sabem é que Paris também conhecida como a “cidade da luz” por ficar especialmente iluminada na altura da passagem de ano. Já estou a imaginar-nos a levantar a taça de champagne ao lado das nossas caras-metades enquanto gritamos Bonne Année ao som do fogo-de-artificio que ilumina a já bela Torre Eiffel. Parece-vos bem?

It is known for many as the city of love and is a destination that's worth a visit at any time of year. What many don't know is that Paris is also known as the "City of Light" for becoming specially lighted in New Year's Eve. I can already imagine ourselves raising the champagne glass, next to our soul-mates, while we shout Bonne Année, at the sound of the Fireworks that light up, the already beautiful, Eiffel Tower. Nice picture?

Como sabem gostamos de partilhar a melhor música que se faz em Portugal. Diogo Piçarra é definição disso. Há muito que me decidi que tinha de falar dele aqui na nossa rúbrica e depois de assistir a este vídeo disse: não passa de hoje! Podia ter escolhido a Tu e Eu ou a Breve ou  a Volta ou outra qualquer porque fazem todas muito sentido, mas escolhi esta por todos os motivos e mais alguns. Para além de estar perfeitamente bem escrita (como aliás todas as outras) o vídeo liga muito bem com as palavras, e só artistas assim o conseguem! Podia continuar para aqui a dizer o quão bom o Diogo é, mas basta ouvi-lo para perceber isso!

Eu sei, a ouvir-te a vida vai bem =)

As you know, we like to share the best artists made in Portugal. Diogo Piçarra is the definition of it. I decided I had to talk about him in this serie a long time ago, but after watching this video, I said: it has to be today! I could have chosen Tu e Eu or Breve or Volta or any other, because all of them make so much sense, but I chose this one for all of the reasons and some more. Apart from being perfectly well-written (as all the others indeed) the video is very well connected with the words, and just artists like him can do that! I could keep writing about how good Diogo is, but you just need to listen to him to realize it!

ANOTHER PLACE EM CROSBY | Another Place At Crosby

Depois de 3 meses de estadia em terras reais começa a fazer falta sentir areia nos pés e ver mar no horizonte. Foi por isso que na passada sexta-feira apanhei o autocarro 53 com a minha mãe e só tínhamos como destino uma praia qualquer. Sem saber qual seria a nossa paragem acabamos por sair onde não devíamos, mas com mais ou menos peripécias no caminho, chegamos até à praia de Crosby.

After 3 months of being in royalty lands, I start to miss how the sand feels on my feet and how the sea looks like. That's why, last Friday, me and my mom caught the bus 53 and we only had a beach as  a destination. Without knowing in what stop we should go out, we ended up leaving in the wrong one, but with more or less adventures on the way, we arrived at Crosby's beach.

Primeiro passa-se as típicas casinhas, depois um descampado que vai até às dunas, por fim subimos as dunas e apreciamos a bela paisagem da praia das estátuas, como gosto de lhe chamar.

Existe um caminho por detrás das dunas onde se pode andar a pé, de mão dada para os apaixonados, ou de bicicleta a romper o ar salgado. Para quem mal espera por colocar o pézinho na areia, então sobe-se e desce-se as dunas e ali estamos nós!

First we waslked past the typical houses, then we saw a wilderness that ended up in dunes. Finally we climbed the dunes and saw the beautiful view of the beach of the statues, as I like to call it.

There is a path behind the dunes where you can walk, hand in hand for the love birds, or do some cycling while enjoying the salty breeze. For those who can't wait to put the feet on the sand, just climb the dunes and there you are!

PANTEÃO NACIONAL | The National Pantheon

Já diz o ditado e é bem verdade: tudo o que é nacional é bom. Nem que seja pela mais pequena razão. Desta vez, é uma razão bem grande. O Panteão Nacional é o tecto das figuras mais importantes do país e por isso merece sempre a visita. Já não ia ao Panteão há alguns anos e este ano foi de vez. A minha razão era de coração, de amor, visto que o grande Pantera Negra teve a sua merecida mudança há pouco tempo. E eu lá fui, em excursão por Alfama, visita-lo. Era o único com flores. Ele e a Amália, noutra sala, quem de também gosto tanto. E foi bom. Parece que o Panteão e a vista nos enche a alma. E não há nada melhor que a vista da Lisboa, menina e moça para alguém como eu. 

A visita ao Panteão Nacional é agora paga: 4€. Se forem no primeiro Domingo de cada mês é grátis! E vale bem a pena :)

The Portuguese expression says it all: what is national is good. Even if it is for the meaningless reason. But, this time, it has indeed a big motive. The National Pantheon is the roof for the most important Portuguese people and therefore it always deserves a visit. I haven't been in the Pantheon for a few years and this time I decided to go. My big motive was love, since Eusébio had his deserved place just less than a month ago. And I went there, on an excursion through Alfama, visiting him. He was the only one with flowers. Him and Amália, the big Diva of Fado, in another room, who I also love so much. And it was amazing. It seems like the Pantheon and the view caresses our soul. And there is nothing better than a view over Lisboa, "menina e moça", for someone like me. 

The visit to the National Pantheon is now payed: 4€. If you go on the first Sunday of the month is free. And it is very worth it :)
